More than an engineer—an all-around creator.
I always loved low-fidelity (lo-fi) music. I listen to it all the time when I work; it brings me a sense of calm and serenity. During COVID, my country was in a total lockdown, so I had a lot of spare time. Coming from a musical background, I wanted to create some lo-fi songs to express myself during those dark, uncertain times. I created six original tracks with just my laptop and a heart full of unspeakable feelings.
I joined an international festival committee with the goal of celebrating diversity through food, interactive activities, and cultural performances. The event aimed to bring together different cultures under one roof, and as the graphics lead, my role was crucial in shaping the festival’s visual identity. We had a small team, and I was the only one in the graphics department. This meant I had to take full responsibility for designing T-shirts, posters, pamphlets, lanyards, and all other event-related graphics. It was a challenging but exciting opportunity to showcase my creativity and commitment.
The design process involved extensive work in Adobe Illustrator, where I carefully crafted elements that captured the essence of cultural unity. One of the highlights was the T-shirt design, which turned out to be extremely popular—so much so that an attendee approached us asking for an extra one because they loved it. Beyond apparel, I created visually striking pamphlets and posters, making sure that key event details were displayed clearly and professionally. Managing multiple design projects simultaneously was a challenge, but I stayed organized and delivered everything on time, ensuring that the festival had a cohesive and polished look.
The experience was immensely rewarding. Seeing my designs appreciated by attendees and knowing that they helped create a welcoming and vibrant atmosphere made all the hard work worth it. This project allowed me to develop my design skills, improve my time management, and contribute to an event that brought people together through culture and art. It reinforced my belief in the power of visual storytelling and how thoughtful design can make a meaningful impact on a community.

"I served as the primary Staff Advisor for the International Festival Committee at CU Boulder for the year of 2023 when Timothy served as the Graphics Lead. Timothy was in his first year at CU Boulder as a student but was quick to step into an involved leadership role. Although Timothy's professional history isn't directly in Graphics, Timothy volunteered for the role and it was inspiring watching him develop strong graphic design skills through perseverance and commitment.
As the staff advisor, I received countless compliments on the graphics produced both for the International Festival Recruitment efforts and marketing for the International Festival event itself. I was honored to give all the credit to Timothy.
Finally, I watched Timothy's intercultural communication and leadership skills grow exponentially throughout his time as Graphics Lead. Timothy delegated tasks to other members of the committee when needed, and when he identified a strength in another member of the team that he wanted to highlight. The committee has members from over 10 different countries, and we worked with students from all over the world that participated in the event. Timothy was always professional, clear, and gracious in his communications with all parties involved. He also maintained a friendly but professional relationship with me and the other staff advisor as his supervisors and it was just a pleasure mentoring him!"

"Timothy was a delight to work with this year for CU Boulder's International Festival. He took initiative in his role as the lead for our Graphics Committee, and designed the most beautiful T-Shirt Design IFest has ever seen! All of the marketing materials were eye-catching, and received countless compliments. I'm so appreciative to have been able to be a Staff Advisor for Timothy!"
